Quick Pickles
The simplest way to make pickles at home. Add garlic, onions, or spices to your jars for an extra kick of flavor!
Ingredients
1 cup vinegar, such as white, apple cider, or rice
1 cup water
Instructions
Wash 2 wide-mouth pint jars, lids, and rings in warm, soapy water and rinse well. Set aside to dry, or dry entirely by hand.
Prepare the vegetables, then place them and any flavorings — spices, garlic, or onion — into the jars.
Place the vinegar, water, salt, and sugar in a small saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the salt and sugar. Pour the brine over the vegetables, filling each jar to within 1/2 inch of the top.
Gently tap the jars against the counter a few times to remove all the air bubbles. Top with more brine if necessary.
