Week 20- Its hard to believe, but 20 weeks have past. This is the last week of CSA shares.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for your support this year! Honestly, this has been a tough year in many ways. Even though we suffered major crop losses, you have showed us your support by learning to use a new ordering system, pre-paying, showing up each weak and even ordering extras.
We will continue to offer all available produce each week on Farm Stand.
New this week:
Butterkin - A cross between a butternut squash and a pumpkin, the butterkin squash is a relatively new variety that can be used for decorating and eating. It’s quickly gaining in popularity, due to its smooth and sweet flesh. Butterkins can be a substitute for any dish that calls for butternut squash or cooking pumpkins. Prep Tips: Cut the butterkin in half. Place face down onto a foil lined baking sheet. Bake in 400F oven until soft. Remove seeds and discard. Carefully scrape out the softened flesh.
Kiwi Berries- Kiwi Berries are a small variety of the kiwi fruit with an edible skin. IMPORTANT: You have to wait until they are soft and the skin is wrinkled before eating. Really, the softer the better. As they soften they get sweeter. Leave at room temperature to ripen. For faster ripening, put them in a paper bag with an apple.
