Shishitos! So simple, but so amazing. Don't overlook these little peppers. They just may be your new healthy addiction. It is true that these are mild peppers, except 1 in 10 or so is spicy. Yep, it's a foodie version of Russian roulette. Not to worry, the spicy ones aren't too spicy (more anaheim spice than jalapeno). Toss shishitos in olive oil and then on a hot grill or skillet. Toss and cook until they blister some as pictured above (about 7-12 minutes). Collect them into a bowl and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Eat the whole pod except the stem. YUM! This is the best appetizer for the cook! Fresh shishitos are definitely a seasonal local treat. Shishitos are known for having a high vitamin C content. Additionally, they are loaded with manganese, potassium, vitamin K, and vitamin B6. This is the prime time to enjoy all the warmth-lovin crops- peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers....
