Winter is coming!... or here already?

Morning!

 

The frost came strong this week and almost caught us off guard. Generally, we like the frost because it actually makes some of the brassicas taste sweeter. Especially the broccoli. We covered up most of the young crops like our carrots, beets, and long term radishes (like watermelon radish). We've been through this every year and only a couple times have we really had a hard time keeping food alive. As for the summer crops... those are dead haha! So no more tomatoes and okra for the rest of the year. We shed a little bit of tears but are grateful for all the extra months we have been able to harvest. Looking forward to all the new food coming out. 

A new crop for this week that you'll find in the box is salad radishes. These are short term radishes that are great for salads because the greens are soooo good! Chop them off and slice up the radishes in your favorite salad for a nice mildly spicy twist. In a couple weeks we'll have some ginormous heads of cabbage and broccoli.
