As a follow up to their first video earlier this season, local film production crew Northern Spotlight returned to Big River Farms in July. In this second mid-season video, hear from farmers Choua and Kia about how they've adjusted and coped to the new realities of farming during a global pandemic.
While COVID-19 has presented many uncertainties, it has also presented some new opportunities. One example is that farmers have been able to sell their extra produce to the The Food Group this year for distribution to many local food shelves. In addition to Big River Farms seeing an increase in CSA membership demand, many local food shelves have seen a large increase in demand for access to healthy food as a result of the pandemic, high rates of unemployment, and the economic recession. We are grateful for the ability to offer fresh, organic produce to CSA members and food bank clients alike, while paying farmers a fair price for all of their hard work.
