I love to hear how people experience different flavors. It is always a struggle to try and describe flavors because of everyone's individual palate and preference. French Breakfast radishes may be a mild, crunchy snack to one person, and a flaming hot, spicy garnish to another. Meeting someone who has similar flavor experiences to your own is rare I feel, so aggregating opinions from our members and customers is key to broadening my perspective and reciprocating a more wholesome viewpoint.
There are certain fruits or veggies that have a more universal appeal and broader consensus on flavor. Strawberries, for instance, are liked by most people and the ones that we grow, I think, are pretty sweet. But last week at market there was a woman who said that she thought that strawberries were too sour and she didn't enjoy them, although she thought they were beautiful. I offered her to try one from the pints we had on display and she obliged. As soon as she bit in to the little fruit, she puckered and gently shook her head. I was baffled. I offered to let her try another and give them a second chance but she politely declined. To each their own I guess.
If you come across something in your share that you are trying for the first time, feel free to let us know how YOU experience it. Sometimes preparation is key to getting the most out of your veggies. Sometimes, you find that no matter how it's prepared, you DO NOT like it. And that's ok :) Harvie will allow you to opt out if you absolutely abhor it.
Eat well and enjoy.
