Hey Everyone!!
Welcome to week 5 of our CSA. Our garden has been loving the warm weather, and we are seeing some great growth!! We actually had to water our garden several times this week, such a change from last week. Our second plot of beets that were looking pretty pathetic are perking up and starting to grow.
We've decided to give our salad mix a break and to let it have some time to replenish, so we will not be offering our salad mix this week. We are getting a different lettuce variety from our friends at Grey Arrow Farm for this weeks box. In the next couple weeks we expect our beautiful butter crisp lettuce to be ready.
We have used up our first plot of carrots, we have 3 other plots coming in. Some of them have taken a long time to come up because of all the rain, but we've seen some great growth this week. We will have carrots for this weeks box, but I am unable to estimate how many I'll be able to place in each bundle. To keep it fair for everyone, we will just divvy up what we have equally.
Our first plot of snap peas and shelling peas both contracted a disease from all the wet weather, and we were unable to save them. We have a second plot that is coming in, but it is also diseased, so we are really hoping that with this hot weather, they will recover. We have been able to find some peas from another local farm, so we will be able to offer them again this week.
We have so many tomatoes coming in now, we are hopeful we will have some celery ready for next week, and tons of zucchini and baby cucumbers coming in too! Lots to look forward to.
I have put zucchini in my harvest estimate for this week. I am really hopeful that by harvest day they will be ready, if not they'll be in next weeks boxes!
Thank you all for supporting our farm!
