Well we didn't get any rain over the weekend, hoping we see a little bit today or tomorrow. I took the picture last year on Oct 19th of our Fall tomatoes, they we so tall! I'm 6'-1" and they towered over me, I hope I can get this years crop to that point, as for now they are only about 3 feet tall.1 read more »

We finally got some rain over the weekend, thank the Lord! Not sure if all of you heard but we had several fires that broke out last week very close to the farm. Talk about scary and keep me up at night! The forestry department (LDAF) did an outstanding job of monitoring from the air and controllin1 read more »

The heat continues, those 2-3 days of drier air and cooler nights sure were nice, but it looks like we may see some more broken records. We have still not had any rain at the farm, it is a dust bowl out there to say the least. Planting more this week either way, kale/chard/collards are supposed to1 read more »

Pumpkins are looking great considering the weather, I hope the weather they are calling for actually happens this week. This is definitely the longest dry streak we have had at the farm during summer in the 11 years I have been here. Well if it wasn't hot enough before it sure is now! So hot that our even both of our hydroponic salad producers have had to call me and apologize for not having any product for me! Which I really hate for my members and our restaurants but there isn't much we can do about it at this time. We do hav1 read more »

It was an excellent first harvest of delicata squash to say the least! We take these bins and stack them in our "tomato room" and keep air circulating on them. Our tomato room is just an air conditioned room that we keep around 70 degrees all the time. If you aren't familiar the delicata squash yet1 read more »

We had some high winds the other night and lost 3 big oak trees. Luckily they didn't fall on anything important, and we will get them cleaned up and hauled to the burn pile. Good news, we have plenty of heirlooms for everyone this week! Squash, cucumbers, and okra are close, hoping to be able to of1 read more »

Delicata squash is looking great, we should start to harvest in 1 to 2 weeks. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do, it is so easy to prepare and taste great. The typical thunder storms for this time of year have been hitting us lately, where last month we had been missing them. I am curious to1 read more »
