We planted 15,000 sweet potatoes, 5,000 pepper plants, tomatoes, eggplant, melons, sunflowers... you name it and it's now in the ground. We also baled about 100 bales of straw, from our rye cover crop that had been planted last fall (to keep the soil from eroding over the winter, it "covers" the ground that's why it's called a "cover crop"). Most of our homegrown straw gets used to mulch crops like tomatoes and watermelon, to cover the soil and keep weeds from growing. Our daughter Shira just turned 11 last week and son Forest turns 13 this week. He just learned to mow on the tractor and did the whole back field! Peas are in, and zucchini are right around the corner. Don't forget about the facebook group if you have questions about cooking or storing produce - "Garden of Eve Organic Farm CSA Members". Have a great week!
