Hi everyone! Before farm updates, just a quick note about the sweet corn: it's here! However we've had a pest issue. Corn worms usually show up in August but this year they've arrived in June. To prevent further damage we've had to harvest the ears small and before they've had a chance to form kernels all the way up the ear, so we'll be sending them to you with the ends cut off. We just wanted to let you know why the corn will not look exactly like what you're used to but hope you'll still enjoy it! This is only our second time growing organic sweet corn and we're still learning the ropes. But new potatoes are here too and they are potato-y perfection! Make sure to store them, as well as the fresh onions, in the fridge for maximum shelf life. Both of these crops are typically "cured" which allows them to stay at room temperature but since these are the fresh versions they appreciate the cooler temperatures of the fridge.
It was another busy week on the farm! The sun, heat and humidity really combined to make it feel summery and sweaty this week. Potatoes are a huge crop for us so we're thrilled to have them make their first big appearance this week! We're also gearing up to start seeding for our fall crops even though we're still waiting with fingers crossed for our first tomatoes to ripen up!

Have a fabulous holiday weekend everybody!!
