It's been a hot week! We started work an hour earlier this week to finish before the hottest point of the day, but we still got pretty sweaty. We did some big, bulk harvests of some of our favorite crops that start every food - garlic and onions! They're curing in the barn for a few weeks before they'll show up in your boxes. We did more clean up of completed spring crops and seeded more things for fall - radicchio, cabbage, Napa cabbage, and kale. There are tiny baby eggplant on the plants which are so adorable - we can't wait for them to get bigger! And the cherry tomatoes are just on the verge of starting, so they'll be here in full force in no time. **Please note: there will be no bread shares this week (July 8th and 9th) or the following (July 14th + 15th.) Motzi Bread will be closed for vacation. We are working with Harvie to make sure that bread share members won't be charged, and that if you've paid in full you'll be refunded that cost.**
Farm Happenings for July 8, 2020
About the farm
Good Dog Farm is a 25-acre vegetable farm in Upperco, Maryland. We are a Certified Naturally Grown farm and use beyond organic growing practices. By farming with the health of our land and customers as our guide, we ensure you the highest quality and safest produce. We use sustainable growing practices to protect our soil and waterways. We supply our customers in the Baltimore and DC regions with delicious, nutritious food that’s always fresh.
We founded the farm in June of 2016. We grow vegetables year-round thanks to our two high tunnels. Our farm provides a diversity of crops for our Community Supported Agriculture program plus wholesale quantities of unique varieties of storage crops like potatoes, winter squash and sweet potatoes.
Our name comes from our shared love of our three dogs, who remind us to live simply and have fun every day.
