I'm sure I keep saying this but...it was really hot again this week! It was also super dry, though we did get a sprinkle of a shower last night. It feels funny to hope for rain in the summer when everyone else is hoping for as much sun as possible, but the plants could really use some help from above! Our high summer crops are steadily increasing, although not as fast as we were expecting. We're feeling the effects of the late frost and cold spring just about now since many of our summer crops were planted a week or two later. We did complete a big project of turning over two of our high tunnels so that we'll have new successions of green beans and cucumbers. We also planted more lettuce, celery and brussel sprouts outside. This is the last week we'll have kale for a while, but lots of new, fun summer things are coming up!

Farm Happenings for July 22, 2020
About the farm

Good Dog Farm is a 25-acre vegetable farm in Upperco, Maryland. We are a Certified Naturally Grown farm and use beyond organic growing practices. By farming with the health of our land and customers as our guide, we ensure you the highest quality and safest produce. We use sustainable growing practices to protect our soil and waterways. We supply our customers in the Baltimore and DC regions with delicious, nutritious food that’s always fresh.
We founded the farm in June of 2016. We grow vegetables year-round thanks to our two high tunnels. Our farm provides a diversity of crops for our Community Supported Agriculture program plus wholesale quantities of unique varieties of storage crops like potatoes, winter squash and sweet potatoes.
Our name comes from our shared love of our three dogs, who remind us to live simply and have fun every day.
