Friendly farm PSA: we have extra strawberries this week, and the season is looking maybe hot and short, don't hesitate -get them in this week's share before they are gone 'til next year!
I am running late today, so I will keep the newsletter short and sweet so as not to delay the customization launch, as I know there are some of you who wait excitedly to customize your shares! I had meant to write an email about all the crazy supply chain stuff going on and how it affects the farm, but we'll save that for another week. For now I'll say: week 2 of the CSA is one for working out kinks (as are weeks 3, 4 and 5, until we reach mid-Summer madness and are moving along at a pace so quick that all the world around us seems a blur). So we smoothed out some of the ruffles from week one, rearranged some deliveries, improved some systems, colored coded some things, and then we had some good fun this week, with the stress of week 1 behind us. Always lots to improve, but feeling pretty good about the season so far. It was a real joy to see the crew bouncing along in Thursday's pack-out (which I didn't even really have to be at it went so smoothly) - music bumping and things flowing smoothly. I can't say enough good things about the team this season, farming is much more fun when done among friends, and we're so lucky to have such a wonderful team of folks farming with us this year!
Also, one last thing - we have what I believe to be the official harbinger of summer in shares this week (not tomatoes, not basil) CILANTRO. It's just so fresh and crisp and amazing, I love it in everything. Happy Summer!
