OUR HOURS: Thursday, 3pm-7pm, Friday 11am-7pm, Saturday 9am-1pm. Like always, feel free to come during any of our open hours. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before we close to allow yourself time to gather your veggies.
FARM UPDATE:
So many new veggies are just around the corner! We're harvesting the next 2 varieties of onions this week, and the first variety of edamame. We're also harvesting the first few ripe tomatoes. There won't be enough to put in shares this week, but we'll be swimming in tomatoes by next week. There are baby eggplants that will probably be ready next week and lots of watermelons that are almost ripe as well. We did a test dig of potatoes today and it looks like those will also be in shares next week.
PICK YOUR OWN:
Are you familiar with tomatillos? This tomato relative is native to Mexico but has made its way into gardens around the US. Tomatillos can come in many colors including the green varieties that we have. Here's a salsa recipe if you are unsure how to use this exciting little fruit.
4 Ingredient Tomatillo Salsa (Salsa Verde)
10 tomatillos
1 jalapeño, stemmed, seeded and ribs removed (keep ribs and seeds if you want it hotter)
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 bunch cilantro
salt and pepper to taste
Remove the husks from the tomatillos and rinse. Place the tomatillos and the jalapeño in a pan and cover with water. Place over medium-high heat and boil until the tomatillos are fully cooked and are a dull olive green color, about 10 minutes.
Strain the mixture, then place the tomatillos and jalapeño in a food processor. Add the garlic and cilantro and process until smooth. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
