We hope you are able to enjoy a relaxing Labor Day weekend! We are grateful for the cooler temperatures and recent rains that have come through. While the rain has been critical to keep the open field crops alive and growing (like beans, winter squash, carrots and later season broccoli, lettuce and greens,) they will speed the finale of tomato boxes so if you haven’t stocked up on bulk tomatoes, yet this is likely the last week they will be available. They can be ordered as Extras during your share customization period.
This will be the final week of pre-picked flowers or bouquets for our flower share members. We hope you have enjoyed them this summer and we invite flower and bouquet CSA share members to adventure carefully into the Suffield farm flower fields during regular CSA hours to pick your own flowers for the next two weeks, being mindful of course of all COVID-19 protocols for masks and distancing. Please keep in mind that even outside of our farm growing season Sheri and Sarah are able to offer custom designed floral pieces for your special events; you can reach out by emailing flowers@oxenhillfarm.com or calling Sheri at 860 214-5104 for more information!
There are also still herbs and some cherry and plum tomatoes available in the U-pick area at the Suffield farm that all veggie CSA members are welcome to visit during regular CSA hours (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 130pm-630pm and Saturday mornings from 900am-1230pm,) observing the following:
