Strawberries are included in your share this week. Not sure how much longer they'll be available because of the high heat we've had. This week they're in pretty good shape so we're pleased to offer them to you. Strawberries are native to North America but have since been further bred, hybridized, and cultivated in many other countries. Their sweetness is hard to resist. As the fruit further ripens the sugar levels continue to develop. These "fresh market berry" hybrids are the sweetest bar none. Unfortunately they're also a lot more delicate than the commercial varieties you buy in the stores where flavor has been exchanged for long distance shipping and shelf life. In simple terms locally grown fresh market cultivars are the sweetest strawberries and by their deslgn should be eaten, or frozen soon after they're harvested. We'll try to get least one more week's delivery from the field for you. Enjoy!
