Alas! December is here and it's sure been a great feeling to still have some greens available to offer. My use of propane to heat the greenhouse has kept the temperature at night just perfect for spinach and lettuce. Because I chose to continue my weekly deliveries into December my propane consumption is up but its been worth it to have my own greens to eat. By now I'd be resorting to buying greens from the grocers. It's been special for me to have greens on my plate at this time of the year, and I hope it's been the same for you too.
I'm still planning to continue deliveries for the next two weeks and possibly the third if the weather cooperates. That last delivery date planned for December 29th could potentially be canceled if the weather takes a change for the worse.
By now most of you have used up your Harvie credit. If you still have an outstanding credit amount you should have at least two more weeks to use up most, or all of what remains. Those who have used up all their credit and are still buying produce from my store I've been very appreciative of that, and I thank you kindly.
I really had no clue how this season was going to end up after abruptly moving to the online farm stand. Overall my experience this summer has given me a lot to consider for next year. I'm accepting to the fact that this may be the only way I'll be able to continue at least for the near future. Unless there's a change in the job market to find qualified employees I'm going to make the best of my situation and use a virtual farmers market to sell my produce. I truly hope in whatever way I choose to operate for next year I'll have your continued interest to stand on. If you have anything you'd like to share about your experience this summer with the program I'd like hearing from you.
With warm regards,
Farmer Steve
