The strawberries are pumping out fruit - just in time for Christmas! We have them in bulk, and will be offering them in kilogram punnets for a short time to reduce the price and hopefully move more fruit.
We normally replace strawberry plants every year with our own fresh runners. This gives us fewer, larger fruit and helps to keep weeds down. This year we didn't do that: the plants are in their second year and giving loads of berries. Although in theory they should be smaller than those from first year plants, they are in fact a nice size.
Deliveries for next week will happen on Monday the 24th in the afternoon instead of Tuesday, which is Christmas Day. The following week will be the same to factor in New Year's Day.
If your pickup location is a shop and it closes for the holidays, we organise home delivery or an alternative location with you.
Cauliflowers and beetroot are slowly coming along with a beautiful succession of radishes and many, many strawberries. Peas and snow peas aren't far off either.
Although we're very busy with harvesting, we're still finding the time to plant many seedlings, including potatoes, many cauliflowers, broccoli and cabbages.
We wish everyone happy holidays and a safe festive season.
