It has been a hot week at the farm, so things are starting to really grow - weeds included, of course! Lynelle (pictured) has been a consistent volunteer at the farm for many years now and is also a long-time CSA member. We are so grateful for her support and willingness to chip in many hours these days! Yeah for farm heros!
There has been a lot of good feedback for our first couple of weeks of CSA boxes, and for the Harvie customized bins. I'm so pleased that folks are enjoying their boxes. At this point less than half of you are making swaps, so I guess the computer is doing a good job of using your preferences to make a bin that fits your household tastes. If you need more clarity in how swaps and extras work, check out this Harvie help resource.
There have been a few inquiries about weekly charges on your credit card from the farm. Just a reminder that most folks chose to use a payment plan which involved 25% down at the time of registration, another 25% on the day of your first CSA bin and the remaining 50% spread out equally over the 20 (or 10) weeks of CSA shares. Your card will be charged when your bin contents are confirmed (usually the morning of your delivery day). This charge should be the same each week from here on, unless you purchase extras or swap a more valuable item into your box.
Speaking of extras... check out the cheese! If you have a favourite Little Qualicum Cheese that you'd like to buy from the farm, let me know. If you'd like to purchase extra garlic scapes, take advantage of our over-stock to get a bulk price! We hope to bring in more good things for you to try.... such as cherries. These amazing organic cherries will not appear as extras on our Harvie platform, but if you head on over to Kingfisher Farm Market's online store, you can place a cherry order and we'll include them with your CSA box when they come (sometime next week or the week after). Ordering deadline for cherries is Wednesday, June 24, 6 PM.
Zucchinis are coming soon!!
