Hot Sauce is finally here and Oyster Mushrooms in this weeks share!

Posted on November 13th, 2022 by Carly Richardson

The past few weeks the frost came hard finally came and have put all our summer crops and flowers to their final end.

So while there are no more fresh hot peppers to offer this week, you don't have to say goodbye to that little bit of spice because we do have some of our famous fermented hot sauce available to order! We have it available in both smoked and regular - it lasts a long time and makes for a great Christmas present for that spicy foodie friend!

We have continued making it using Farmer Paul's famous recipe that many of you have come to know and love. Making hot sauce with the team is a really fun project that we do in the fall with our interns so they can learn about fermentation and its many benefits to health and as a means of food preservation through the winter. Fermented foods are particularly great for gut health for many reasons, including that they contain beneficial bacteria!

The other exciting offerings you won't want to miss this week are Organic Pink Lady Apples! We are selling them in just 2lb bags and there are a limited amount available so get them quick! (*note if you ordered Pink Lady apples earlier this season you should have already been notified you via email that they will be ready for pick up this week along with your shares)

We also have included in your shares the option of Oyster Mushrooms from MYCA Farms, a local mushroom farm that we absolutely love! I ate their mushrooms all summer and they are absolutely amazing. These Mushrooms are included as a swap-able item in your regular share and we hope you will give them a shot.

There are 3 more shares left this season, so be sure to stock your pantry with some of our winter storage crops like squash and onions and beets and daikon which will continue to hold you over through the winter months!

Cheers,

Farmer Carly
