Welcome to the second week of the CSA! The organic strawberries are having a great run and we are so pleased to see them continue in the share....will we get another week out of them? Its hard to say. This last few days the weather got hot fast. Thats good news for some crops and not great for others. The broccoli will be coming on strong soon, and maybe cauliflower too. We definitely had to turn on the irrigation. Can you believe we already are planting and watering crops for the fall harvest? Spaghetti squash and butternut squash seeds got planted and watered this week. As I write this email today we are preparing to have some friends from SAL-Sustainable Agriculture Louisville come to the farm and plant the Three Sisters crop--to be harvested in October. The three sisters are: Corn for cornmeal, Pole Beans and Pumpkins. We have been growing this plot for the community for about 10 years now! The corn seed has gone out across the world to be planted thanks to our good friend Stephen Bartlett. We love this work and hope that you enjoy the good food!

About the farm
We are a seventh generation family farm, raising certified organic vegetables for CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and Farmers Markets. We also raise pastured chicken, 100% grassfed beef and offer pastured pork. We raise food with the intention of taking care of the land: growing healthy soil, healthy plants, healthy animals, and healthy people. Since we are a seventh generation family farm, caring for the land and soil for our children and the next seven generations is at the forefront of our farming practices. We nourish the soil with compost from our farm, and other natural ways to bring nutrients and minerals back to the land to improve the health of the soil, land and crops. We work to maintain a balanced, healthy soil to help grow healthy plants and food. We see our farm as part of a larger community-- a network of people who are interdependent with each other. We grow healthy food for our family, friends and community.
