Lara, Axel and I had a great vacation on the North Shore. We were able to catch up with some friends, visit some state parks and we even went fishing on Lake Superior. It was nice to relax and unwind and we're ready to take on the second half of the season!
Sam and Caitlyn did a great job keeping everything going on the farm - we really appreciate having such excellent help this summer. While we were away they kept up with the weekly harvests, did all the washing and prep work, ran two farmers markets on Tuesday and Thursday, planted 12 flats of seeds for fall, and managed our caterpillar tunnel.
Peak produce season continues and we've begun the process of curing onions and have completed curing garlic. The curing process allows our onions and garlic to store for months and basically consists of drying down the outer layers of each by storing them in a dry, warm place with good airflow. You'll see garlic in your Harvie shares this week!
Our tomatoes and peppers are behind - we had a tough go with them this spring which added some delays to them. The good news is that the plants look fantastic and when we finally do have tomatoes and peppers, they will be delicious and bountiful!
We're refreshed, rejuvenated and ready for the remainder of the season!
