Farm Happenings for September 30, 2020

Posted on September 26th, 2020 by Mike Finger

We are sobbing a bit around here these days as the onset of Fall begins to shut down our favorite summer treats.  Basil, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Zucchini, and Peppers are all in their final acts, though the end dates are a bit different for each.  We are excited, though, at the strong crops of Brussels Sprouts, Parsnips, Winter Squash, and fall Carrots we are seeing. Imagining hearty dishes made with them does buoy our spirits some. The weather shamans predict sun and some real heat this week, which the crew will be pleased for after a rather damp period last week.  We see flocks of ducks and geese overhead each day (no swans as yet, though) and three times last week immature Cooper's Hawks darted across the road and into thick brush as we motored our way down the farm road.

Here are the crops we've added to this week's "Extras" list (crops you can swap and or purchase as extras to your regular delivery):  Basil, Green Cabbage, Eggplant, and Basil.

Thank You for  your membership.  We are grateful to be your farmers.
