Welcome to Week 3 of the 2019 Winter CSA season!
With all this cold, grey weather, we could use a little something to brighten our days. These seedless, easy-peeling satsumas should do the trick! If you ask me, they are the embodiment of sunshine. These juicy mandarin varieties are grown in Statesboro, Georgia by our friends at Franklin Farms.
This week our farm update comes from the good folks at Hickory Hill Farm in Carlton.
"Howdy from Hickory Hill!
Hickory Hill is about three things: Faith, Family, and Farming. We take all three very seriously and we would like to report that we are persevering and growing in all three.
Faith – Our faith is growing as we seek to live our lives dependent upon God to meet all of our needs. The Lord God is our Strength and our Shield and we seek to put our faith in Him and by doing so we look together to do others good as He has done us good.
Family – As a family, we are happy to report that we are growing! We added another farmer to the group this year with the birth of Matthew Henry Johns. He is now eleven weeks old. Hickory Hill is a generational farm. It has been in Susan’s family since 1852 and Josh and Jennifer’s children are the seventh generation to have put their feet and hands into the deep sandy loam soil! We work together and we grow together.
Farming – As well we are happy to report that our farm is growing also. We are producing more than ever and we hope you are enjoying our veggies on your table each week! We are committed to growing healthy affordable food for you and your family!"
Hickory Hill provides a good portion of the produce in your share, and we are so grateful to have these seasoned farmers in our partnership.
All of us at Collective Harvest hope you are enjoying your winter season share... If you get a chance, let us know how we're doing!
Let's eat!
