Farm Happenings for July 23, 2019

Posted on July 22nd, 2019 by Daybreak Growers Alliance

Hi folks!

The heat loving plants are thriving!! Hope you found a way to stay cool during the heat wave. This is a great time for cool salads – the greens, cucumbers,  summer squash, new potatoes and cabbage are all headed your way this week. Our Family Bounty shares will see the first glimpse of cherry tomatoes this week and we'll have enough for everyone next week!

The raspberries are coming in slower than we thought, so for the Local 25 and Family Bounty Shares instead of raspberries this week you’ll get the first carrots of the season from Ironwood Farm! This weeks box is gorgeous! We’ll plan on having raspberries in the Local 25 and Family Bounty Shares next week. The Artisan Cheese Share is from Fuzzy Udder and Springdale Farm.

A reminder about share pick up – If you do not arrive during the scheduled share pick up times for your site, you will forfeit your share unless you have made advance arrangements with us about a particular day, public access to these sites are limited to the times we have scheduled. Thanks for your cooperation in making it during the pick up times!

Not seeing what you want in your share box? Have you set you share preferences? Part of our partnership with the Harvie online platform is that it allows customers to set their preferences for vegetables and meat. This is a great tool, but if you don't set your preferences Harvie doesn't know what you like and will determine your share based on the whole array of produce and meats available. If you have set your preferences but are not seeing what you'd like in your box you might want to adjust your preferences. You can alway swap your items during the customization window from Wednesday afternoon to Friday afternoons. This is a great way to get exactly what you want in your box each week so take advantage of it!

Update from Dig Deep Farm

We are knee deep in July farm activity! Is there such a thing as a good crazy?

We have greens and sugar snaps galore! The regular rain and our stellar, focused work crew has been helping our fields stay weeded and crops growing! This time of year is a waterfall of seasonal favorites: cucumbers, zucchini, beans, tomatoes, and melons!

We hope you enjoy!
