Moving into the second week of March, less than two weeks from the spring equinox and the days are noticeably longer, the sun warmer and the winds are blowing. Inside greenhouses greens and radishes are starting to be harvested and seedlings are being started for the lush vegetables that will be growing soon! Check out the Graze Grass this week, butter from Hidden Hill Farm, Abraham's pizza, Crooked Face smoked and dill havarti and mozzarella, Ragged Coast chocolates and all the grocery staples for your weekly menu planning. We still have a few East Forty Pork packages available, 10lbs. of mixed cuts!
Update from Marr Pond Farm
Things are quiet around the farm these days, as we work on wrapping up our crop plans and organizing the labyrinth of spreadsheets that make our farm run smoothly through the summer. Winter never seems quite long enough to get all our ducks in a row, but we sure try!
Fairly soon we'll fire up our seedling greenhouse and get our onions, shallots, and leeks seeded for the summer (and winter) to come. In the meantime every snowstorm we keep a watchful eye on our unheated greenhouses, we can't let the snow build up on them or they could collapse. Sometimes we have to get creative...you don't really want to use a shovel near that thin plastic film.
We're also getting our crew lined up for the 2022 season, and we're still hiring! If you or someone you know are looking to spend lots of time outside and grow some amazing vegetables, mushrooms, and flowers check out our website and apply! We have both farm crew and leadership positions available. https://marrpondfarm.com/ contact/employment
Enjoy the veggies!
