Update from South Paw Farm

Here at South Paw Farm, we've been enjoying the splendor of winter. It is our favorite time of year, with no weeds growing and we're not yet behind on our plans. Its fun late night work picking new varieties, retooling our existing selection and tinkering with our crop rotation. We've been working a few new tools into our plans that will make growing herbs and greens easier, and we're excited about ramping those crops up for 2020. We're also lucky enough to be working with an agricultural financial adviser to make all of our cash flow and infrastructure investment dreams a reality.

Our winter greens growing was finished up by the end of December and we've sold most of our storage produce beside shallots, beets and carrots. We've got plenty of salsa in storage and we're working on getting two chile sauces on the market. Shallots are once again going to be carrying us through the winter and we're hoping you all have been enjoying them.

In fun news, we are lucky to have struck up companionship with a mini-horse who now resides at our farm. His name is Lucifer and he has been an endless source of winter fascination and entertainment for all of us, most importantly our almost 3-year-old. He's bossy with the cows but docile with us. He has been a joy to hang with and hopefully a harbinger of the introduction of draft power (however eventually) to our farm.

Thanks so much for following along with Daybreak as it supports Maine farms in their efforts to continue to serve you!

xoxo
