Happy March Everyone! There are a bunch of great preserved items as options for your shares this week. This is a great way to enjoy some summer time veggies in your winter shares! We are excited about the Whole Peeled Tomatoes in this weeks shares from Turtle Rock Provisions. They are a local producer of an amazing line of local canned goods. They work with local farmers to help them preserve the harvest. We also have a small amount of amazing Kimchi and Hot Sauce from Chase Stream Farm this week for you to try. This weeks supplies are limited but we will feature their products in our shares in a few weeks for all to try. Below is some more info on their farm and their great products!
Along with these spicy kimchi's to make you feel the heat of the coming seasons we have some delicious greens back in our shares this week. Baby Kale from Bahner Farm tastes like spring itself! Also in this weeks line up are some Lion's Mane mushrooms from Morrit Hill Farm. These gorgeous and unique mushrooms are a special treat. They have a sweet & savory flavor and meaty texture. It is often best to prepare them in a simple way so as not to take away from their flavor and texture.
Note about your preferences: You may want to adjust your product preferences in your account, for example in August you may not be crazy about receiving kale but between March and July it might be a high preference for you . . . you can change your preferences as often as you wish.
Note about Swaps: When you are in the Swap items window and using the drop down menu for an item, always swap for another item DO NOT use the Remove Item option.
More About Chase Stream Farm . . .
Chase Stream Farm is a certified organic, veteran-owned, diversified family farm located in Monroe, Maine. Vegetables, fruit, sheep, pigs, chickens, bees, maple syrup and value-added products round out the offerings from this 72-acre farm. Marine Corps veterans, Anne & Tim Devin, facilitate education and training programs for other military veterans who want to get in to a life of farming, too. Anne's Korean heritage is evident in their Kimchi and specialty Kojang Korean Hot Sauce. Nothing goes to waste at Chase Stream Farm, and extra vegetables are commonly made into highly sought after relishes and seasonal soups.
Chase Stream Farm Kimchi: Made in the traditional Korean style, using Chase Stream Farm and locally grown vegetables, and seasonings imported from Korea, this kimchi is the real deal. Have it as a side dish, partnered with rice and a hearty protein. Put it in a stew with other veggies and some pork belly and you will be transported to another time and place.
Kojang Korean hot sauce: This is Korea in a bottle! Korean-imported gochujang forms the base for this unique hot sauce that can be used on eggs, as a dip for veggies, or smothered on meat for a barbecue meal that is meant for kings. Throw it in some stir fry to make your taste buds water. Chase Stream Farm honey and garlic provide some local flair and the recipe is a guarded secret.
