You may have been wondering where the apples you have been receiving in your boxes have been coming from. Just down the road from our farm is my great grandparents farm. My great grandfather was a lover of apples and planted many varieties on his farm. No one in the family knows which varieties are which any more. All are delicious and have a broad range of textures and flavors. My favorite is a variety that you won't find in a store anymore because it's delicate yellow flesh is prone to bruising but its flavor and texture are absolute perfection for my taste buds. This fall I will be grafting limbs from these apple trees so I can keep them around for my great grand kids. I am privileged to still have this family farm in my family 4 generations later and to be able to start farming so close to where my family has lived for generations.
