We made it through the week!!
How many more days is it supposed to be sweltering??!
We are excited to report that nobody passed out on the farm last week! I'm not sure that's something worth reporting, but it sure feels like a win for us right now!
We are also excited about some more veggies being ready to harvest! We will have some small carrots starting (not enough for everyone), and arugula and lettuce back in the mix!
The carrots are coming out of a bed where the soil isn't ideal for roots and therefore the greens don't look great and they are a bit on the smaller side (however still delicious). We will pull off the tops and bag the carrots. In the weeks to come there will be larger bunched carrots.
The eggplants are producing well now too and there will be more corn and tomatoes from Forman Farms.
We have some peppers that are available as "seconds". They are not all the way red yet, they are sort of tie-dyed looking like in the picture below! They tend to fall off the plants sometimes when we are harvesting or pruning...they only fall from about 1 foot high...but never the less, they are not quite red and not quite green and we don't feel right about setting them at full price. So, if you like to make preserves with peppers, or chop and freeze them for winter meals (like pizza, quiches, omelets and more!) swap some into your share this week!
