Greetings Farm Fans -
This week I am so pleased to announce that we have produce from 4 new farmers!!!
Boggeri Farms has our first stonefruit of the year with their Yellow Peaches. Boggeri Farms is located on the other side of the Sierras in California - while not NevadaGrown produce, the Boggeri family has been a long-time participant in Nevada farmers markets and we are thrilled to offer their delicious fruit through our farm share program.
Jaime and Kevin Sammons are longtime home gardeners. They began growing and selling their produce commercially a few years ago. IN Reno, you will have tasted their spicy peppers and greens at Thali Restaurant in the West Street Market. Their first farm share listing this year are bunches of spicy mustard greens - I encourage you to give them a try!
I am thrilled to also introduce you to Stacy Fisk. Stacy has a special touch with her medicinal and culinary plants. She grows the MOST BEAUTIFUL calendula I have ever seen in Nevada. This week she has listed assorted head lettuce with varietals including: French Crisp, Maravilla de Verano, Canasta and more.
Finally, this week we have a variety of offerings from the Desert Farming Initiative at the University of Nevada, Reno. Charles Schembre, the farm manager at DFI, tells me that their White Russian Kale and head Romaine lettuce are particularly outstanding this week.
I hope to regularly include these new growers in our farm share! They add increased diversity to our offerings and resiliency to the micro-food system that we are working to create.
Thank you for your support of local farmers!
Kelli
