Greetings Farm Fans!
Out here in the sticks our farmers have been hard at work! They are weeding and planting, irrigating and harvesting--but most importantly, their plants are growing!
Just last week my friend Adrian (the head of the pick crew at Lattin Farms) brought me a small cup of ripe sungolds - the first fruits of the dirt-planted sun-kissed summer tomatoes that are right around the corner! The bee hives have been deposited in the cantaloupe fields to pollinate all of the melon plants that have started to set fruit. Summer is coming!
*** This is a BEEF WEEK ***
If you are a beef subscriber, please be prepared to receive your box this week. If you are not a beef subscriber but WANT some BEEF - there are a few boxes available to add on to your share! I expect that they will go quickly - so you will want to log in and order the extra beef quickly!
This week we have some exciting new produce items in the mix. Scott Goodpasture from Pioneer Farms has listed young fennel, spring onions, and a VERY LIMITED amount of purple cauliflower. For the adventurous - we have 10 portions of daylily buds. For some interesting information about daylily buds - check out this link: https://honest-food.net/dining-on-daylilies/
Also in inventory this week - more yellow peaches from Boggeri Farms. The Boggeri's tell me that nectarines are right around the corner! Salisha 's Delicious listed Yukina Savoy Greens, Purple Topped Turnips, and the first spinach of the season.
*** Special for Thursday Only ***
We just got word that for Thursday locations we will have local ginger available in regular shares AND...
FIRST OF THE SEASON RAINIER CHERRIES are available to add to your box as an "extra" this week! So make sure to check out the extra produce available to add these delicious fruit nuggets into your box! Trust me (I just got back from Cherry Dog Orchards) they are DELICIOUS!
All in all we are loaded with delicious produce that we can't wait to get into your kitchens!
Hope you have an amazing week and Thank You for your support of Nevada Farmers.
