Greetings Farm Fans!
What a weird weather week it has been! On my farm box delivery route last Friday, I experienced 5 distinct micro-climates over the course of 130 miles and 3 hours! My farmers are happy that storms forecasted to hit Fallon have been much milder than anticipated! That being said, we are all looking forward to the solstice on December 21st. With the "official" start of winter our days begin to get longer--this means more growing time!
Back again this week we have Mandarins and Meyer Lemons from Citrus Norte farms in Orland, CA. Also special this week we have Delicata Squash from Avanzino Farms, Hakurei Turnips from Prema Farms, and Arugula from Salisha's Delicious. Pick'n & Grin'n is harvesting the first of their Salanova mix lettuce with much more right around the corner!
For those of you who are consumers of social media - did you know that one of the benefits that comes with our association with HARVIE is the opportunity to participate in a facebook group for farm share subscribers all across the country?!?! This group exclusively for members of HARVIE farms is a great place to share recipes, post photos, and interact with other fans of local food! Check it out today!
We hope you all have a delicious week and thank you for your support of local farmers in Nevada!
