Farm Happenings for December 18, 2019

Posted on December 14th, 2019 by Joanna Winkler

Happy end of season, everyone, and Happy Holidays! We've loved growing food for you all and your families this year.

This was our first year with the Harvie system, and I think it has really worked well for us and improved our ability to match your shares to your tastes. We have also learned a lot about our own farm this year, as we do every year, and we are excited to bring those changes to our crop selection and plans next year. After the apocalyptic rains of 2018, we came into this year with a fairly conservative plan for 2019. Some of our experimental crops--broccoli, beans, and Brussel sprouts come to mind--were big successes that you're sure to see a lot more of in future years. On the other hand, there are other systems we still need to improve, like finding a better way to keep deer from eating over 2000 heads of lettuce this Fall!

As we start to look forward to 2020, we hope that you will do the same and consider joining us again for another season of nourishing, local, organic produce. Instructions are provided below. However, just as important, we ask you to please take the time to fill out this brief survey sharing your experience of your CSA this year. Feedback like this is the only way to know what crops to include more or less of, or how to correct issues relating to storage or freshness at any of our pickup locations. Thanks for your time and have a great holiday!

Sign ups for 2020 CSA shares are now open! You can sign up for next year's share here.

Sign up before January 31st to receive an early bird discount of 5%. Also if you pay in full before January 31st you'll get a $20 credit to spend during the season on extra produce (this credit will be applied after you sign up.)

We have some exciting new add ons this year like Flower Share bouquets from Two Boots Farm, and we're working on putting together a bread share. Of course there's still fruit and eggs from Kitchen Girl Farm, and we're working with some new fruit farmers to make sure they'll be more variety in fruit shares this summer. We hope you'll join us for a new year of delicious, nutritious local food! Feel free to email us if you have any issues signing up or questions about shares.
