Countdown to the start of the 2022 CSA

Posted on June 7th, 2022 by Brigid Ferkett

It's one week until our first delivery. The season has been cool and full of small set backs. When the weather is cool and wet like this, the pastures grow well, and there is a decent hay crop. But the vegetables tend to take their time.

The windy days have been creating problems including the loss of the top of our high tunnel plastic. It ripped completely off, and now it is too small to reattach. We will be ordering new plastic, but in the meantime, the plants might be growing a little slower than we expected.

We are committed to the June 14th start date. There will be bokchoy, rhubarb, lettuce, and more! We are staying busy getting all of our ducks in a row in between the rain showers.

Besides all the field preparations, planting and weeding, our tasks lists are long. We are cleaning and sanitizing our storage bins, fixing broken boxes, organizing all of our packaging equipment, replacing irrigation parts, setting up our deer fencing, going to the butcher, shearing sheep, moving sheep, lots of mowing all the edges of our vegetable fields and more.

We are looking forward to the beginning of our season and delivering all of the boxes. Some of you will be picking up at the farm and we are looking forward to seeing you.

Some of you will be starting the second week of the CSA, on June 21st. You will have received an email regarding your start date and all the details. If you are not sure, please send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
