Welcome. We are excited to begin our deliveries. As usual, we have lots of green things in early spring--arugula, kales, lettuces, escarole, and braising mix. We also have radishes and turnips this week.
Herbs: This year we are going to offer more fresh herbs each week. Using fresh herbs in your cooking enhances the flavor. Judy will be sending you some recipes for fresh herbs. One wonderful basic herb recipe calls for mincing herbs and onions and mixing them with cream cheese--either dairy-based or vegan substitutes.
Reminder about glassine bags: We are using these instead of plastic bags. This eliminates some 15,000 bags per year from entering the waste stream. BUT, you need to remember that glassine bags do not protect your vegetables from drying out in the refrigerator. To maintain freshness, just slip the glassine into any plastic bag you have on hand...such as an old bread bag.
Erasmo, Yoli, and Victor have been hard at work in the fields. Judy has been hard at work on the computer, and as she is approaching 80 years old, has not been in the fields all that much. But we are all happy to be delivering food to you.
