Week Five - Event Alert!! Come visit the farm

Hello hello!

Event alert!  The first on-farm event is officially scheduled! 

Open Farm Day is Sunday July 28th 

Our farm will be giving tours and be open to members and the public from 9AM - 12AM.  Our U-Pick field will be open to members all day long.  The whole town pitches in on open farm day here in Bowdoinham, and you will find MANY open farms and lots of arts and artisans on display.  More information abot town happenings can be found at the Bowdoinham Town Website:

So bring a picnic and your walking shoes and come explore where your food comes from AND Merrymeeting Bay!  Plus, between 9AM and 12PM we'll be showing off our farm equipment and talking about implements and tractors, so if you've got a machinery obsessed kiddo or other human in your life, now is a great time to come check it out!

I'm writing this email with a bit of guilt as I'm sitting in the office (which is still hot and sweaty) and the crew is out weeding the parsnips, a very hot and demanding job on a day like this.  It's been a tough week to be out in the field harvesting, weeding, and generally doing the hard work that keeps the veggies coming, but our crew has done great, still smiling and hustling.  

It's so summery out that we are living that old Maine joke about not leaving your car unlocked lest your neighbor fill it with extra zucchini. If you like squash, you'll notice that LOTS is available this week, so get ready to stir fry, grill, and stuff it!  You'll see LOTS of squash in shares (unless you've indicated that you don't like it) and extra squash available if you'd like to can or freeze some.  We'll bring it to wherever we bring your box in a 15# box for $1.50/lb.

IN other news, Julia, our beloved flower farmer from East of Eden has offered to sell bouquets for delivery as well.  You'll see her beautiful, unique, seasonal bouquets available in "extras."  We also have some extra eggs to sell!
