Ho ho ho! We're about to take a break on the farm, and we are so excited! We're headed into Week 2 of the Winter Harvest Share, and after that we have a 2 week break to get us through the holidays and give us a much need respite here on the farm. I'd say cross your fingers for snow, but it looks like we may even get weather in the 50s, so I'll hold off on getting excited about breaking out the x-country skis for a little while longer. Since we won't be graced with snow, we're planning on filling our off week with some serious family time. We're planning on taking in the lights in Boothbay, taking lots of chilly, windy walks around Merrymeeting Bay, and watching Elf like 25 times. We're wishing you a peaceful holiday from all of us on the farm.
We've got some fun holiday options for you that can help you bring some local into the holidays. I highly recommend the cajeta Kennebec Cheesery's goat's milk caramel if you're going to be consuming any icecream or apple pie over the holidays. Speaking of apple pie - Sarah has included a recipe below that uses cranberries, apples, AND the oats in your shares this week. We recently had a variation of this that Sarah made for a staff birthday and it was awesome.
Plus, goat cheese brie, cranberry sauce, maple-garlic fresh spirals pasta (OMG), and lots more! Enjoy!
*Reminder - the farm takes the week of Christmas and New Year's off from CSA deliveries so your next share will be delivered the week of January 3rd on the regularly scheduled day*
*Another reminder - if your share was missing a passata from the last delivery, due to the great passata disaster of 2021, it will be in your share this coming delivery! Yay! *
