What a week we have for you! As we hit our summer stride (read summer insanity) we've got some new exciting veggies, we're totally restocked with new extra products to try and enjoy AND we're doing a soft open of the U-pick on Sunday July 10th.
We harvested the first of our new potatoes this week, and we have red and yellow for you to chose from. Plus our tomatoes are just getting started (cherries first), and we have a smattering to offer in this first week. We promise that they will really start to kick into gear in the coming weeks, but if you are quick you can grab a 1/2 pint this week.
We have all kinds of new pickled things this week from Olde Haven Farm, traditional dill pickles and other cool pickles a little further from the beaten path. We've also got sunflower oil back, 2 (!!) types of new hot sauce from a tiny operation in Freeport AND local organic frozen meat (ground beef and sausage). Plus all the regular goodies we've had. For cheese this week, we've ventured from Maine to Vermont - check out the cheese Eric is excited for Cheddy Topper! Check out everything below!
Lastly - the raspberries in our U Pick are pushing things right along and we are doing a soft open this weekend to make some of the flowers and the berries available to you. We will be open this SUNDAY from 10AM - 4 PM for raspberry and flower picking.
When we open the UPick more fully we'll have all the signage in place, but for this weekend:
-head to 304 Pork Point Road Bowdoinham, look for the blue shipping container (see pic below), and park where the signs designate (in the open window)
-follow signs to the U pick
-Stay off and away from all equipment and out of all buildings
-I (Beth, and likely Iona) will be staffing it for the open window this weekend to make sure things go smoothly and to work out the kinks before we open for real next weekend.
Some quick rules:
-bring water, there is no potable water available on site
-there is a porta-potty on-site
-NO dogs
-stay out of buildings and tunnels and respect the employee housing area
-dress like you are going to be outside for a while (comfortable closed toed shoes, layers, sunscreen, hat, snacks, water).
-Children must be supervised at all times
-bring your own vase/berry containers
-if you have any questions contact the farm at farmers@harvesttideorganics.com
