Summer Harvest Share - Week 10

Week 10!  Peppers, oh my!  We have an incredible selection of peppers this week, and you can expect to see it continue to expand in the coming weeks.  This week we've added poblanos and cornos to the jalapenos, green bells, banana peppers, and shishitos we've had available in past weeks!  Poblanos are the other spicy option we offer (in addition to the jalapeno).  They are mildly spicy (1,000 - 1,500 scoville heat units, which is 2-8 times less spicy than jalapeno) earthy and a beautiful deep green.  They are good raw, but really shine when roasted or grilled, which deepens their flavor and also allows you to peel the skin.  As one who enjoys a mild spice, I find them delicious - give them a try!

Also, if you are waiting for red or yellow bells, your wait won't be much longer - in the meantime, PLEASE eat the cornos peppers.  They are red and yellow, horn-shaped peppers and are delicious!  Sweet, tender, amazing raw or roasted.  We have 2nds available for bulk purchase if you want to roast and freeze or preserve!

On the farm, things continue at a pace too hot to handle for now until we see reprieve in later September.  This heat doesn't help - I cannot tell you enough how glad I am that the temps coming on this Sunday are not on a day when we have the team in the field.  The heat is definitely taking a toll on the leafier plants, and you should expect to see fewer greens in shares for the next few weeks until high summer passes and we get some damper cooler temps.  We're hoping to be back in crunchy, leafy things in a few weeks.  Until then, I recommend cabbage salad: shredded cabbbage, a little salt, an acid (like cider vinegar, lime juice, lemon juice), and oil and you are good to go!

Reminder:  Fall shares are open and auto-renew (for those signed up for it) on August 11th.  

What to expect:

1. If you are signed-up for auto-renew - you will receive an email about your membership details on August 9th, letting you know if you are designated to auto-renew.
2. You will have 2 days as a grace period in which you can make changes to your share type, size, frequency, location or cancel your order.
3. On August 11th, your card will be charged and your membership will be renewed with us!
