Peak summer! We have organic, wild Maine Blueberries available this week! As well as bulk pickling cukes and bulk basil for your processing wants - pickles and pesto - hurray! Tomatoes are getting closer to flush so we have even more available this week, plus all kinds of other mid-summer deliciousness (broccoli, green beans, crunchy delicious summer cabbage, the start of the pepper march)! We also have something a little unusual this week, we don't typically purchase in veggies (nearly every single last veggie we sell is grown on our farm), but we've had a very slow and uninspiring start to our carrot season this year due to an early dry spell, so we have carrots from the known and loved Crystal Spring Farm in Brunswick (Beth worked here for 3 years and got her start in farming there!). Our own bunches will be back in about 3 weeks, but if your yenning for the crunch of a summer carrot, we've got you covered! And don't worry about fall and winter - our late season carrots look fire (as the kids say).
Our U-pick continues to be open - the flowers are amazing, but raspberries are getting pretty slow. The cherry tomatoes are just getting started if you're willing to bend and crawl (tomatoes ripen from the bottom), and we're still waiting on beans, husk cherries, and little sour gherkins. Please come and enjoy yourself! Reminder, the U-pick is self serve, park by the signs, follow the rest of the signage to the U-pick, and cut flowers to your hearts delight! We have no potable water on sight, so please prepare for a day in the outdoors, but we will have a cooler available for filling your flower vases.
In other crazy news, we are starting to plan for FALL! Crazy, I know! You can sign-up NOW here: https://www.harvie.farm/farm/harvest-tide-organics/signup. Our summer shares auto-renew into fall shares, so keep an eye out for our fliers and emails coming this coming week, to let you know how to be sure to get your fall share and add-on shares in the coming cooler season!
Lastly, we want to remind everyone that if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the farm directly and do not use Harvie forms or the Harvie phone line. You can reach the farm at this email: farmers@harvesttideorganics.com or by phone at (207) 449-7274 (Beth's direct line, please leave a message if you do not reach me immediately). The software has been very slow to pass messages along and it really delays our awesome customer service team's (read:Sarah's) ability to handle everything in a timely fashion. We don't have a lot of immediate control over this, but are working on longer term solutions! Thank you!
