Welcome to week number two!
We survived the first week with minor glitches, and we thank you for your patients as we learn and grow with the new delivery methods. It has been a bit of a logistical challenge for many businesses to adapt to the new world. I only hope it has inspired us all to be more humble and kind to one another!
Our Harvie programs crew has had their challenges as well, having had to hire 10 more staff to adapt to the greater demand for local food which has led to a few technical difficulties along the way! That being said the positive side is that more people our eating locally, supporting more small farms and doing their part for the environment and food security. So many wins, we need to count our blessings and keep being part of that change.
On the farm it feels like we may be hitting our stride! Finally we have all our major long term plantings in, winter squash, watermelon, and 11,000 slips of sweet potatoes went in the ground this week! Yeah! The weather has been a challenge hot & cold fluctuations in the extreme are making greens bolt or brown. A bonus is we finally got rain a real relief as I was afraid that we were going to have to start running drip lines early.
I will see you at some point I am sure and I thank you for your patients as we go along this season!
Cheers your farmer, Jess
