Farm Happenings for week of September 3, 2019

Posted on August 30th, 2019 by Jessica Foote

Well this might be a little long winded for me at least to much to say today!

I will start with you are now able to sign up for our Winter CSA online! Yeah! And the early bird sign up for the 2020 will be available by the end of this week! I can't believe it is fall already...

For shares new and exciting this week butternut squash, lot's of eggplants, and spinach!!! First bed that has germinated in two months so much effort for one of our favorite greens has finally come to fruition! There will be more baskets of tomatoes, however cherry tomatoes will only be available to purchase as extras sad to say some of these guys didn't make it to the performance stage with the drought conditions so I cannot guarantee then for shares. We also have a beautiful patch of cauliflower that is coming ready so they should be in the shares! (Please forgive me if my timing is out it is very hard to project into the upcoming week if they will be ready! )

On another note we have add chicken to the extras section to facilitate their sale and ordering process! So it is convenient to place your order through Harvie! We will gladly bring them to drop off & have them ready for pick up on farm!

Yet another odd request but I am really hoping that I may be able to find some interest! At this time of year harvest starts overtaking the field work and additional markets and winter storage take a lot of time so the horses are not as busy as usual! This adds a complication to one of our teammates in particular Mr.Gray, he has a chronic health condition that requires exercise on almost a daily basis to keep his circulation functioning. I have been struggling to keep him healthy for the last 4 years & this year it has become a daunting task! HE is an incredible who loves to ridden or hand walked and can be handled easily. I can't afford to pay someone to ride him his medical bills are enough to manage, but was hoping if I reached out I may find someone who is looking for horsey time such as hand walking or hacking! If I don't ask I don't know....Give me a call at 905-986-9612 if you think it is something you would be interested in helping with.

So I guess that is all for now!

Cheers, Jessica Foote
