Farm Happenings for the week of October 22, 2019

Posted on October 19th, 2019 by Jessica Foote

Hello all,

I hope that your Thanksgiving Celebrations went well! We all took a Sunday off before once again hitting the fields to start hauling in all our winter storage crops! Carrots, beets, cabbage, potatoes, kohlrabi...you name it ! All are filling our cool rooms to enjoy for the winter. It is pretty amazing the  variety that you can enjoy in the winter months! This week sees us wrapping up the summer season and we will be starting into the Winter CSA, Saturday November 2nd followed by our Winter drop off Monday November 4th in Prince Albert.

We have a lot of peppers and eggplants to share this week so if you would like to order any to put into the freezer let me know! CSA members can get them for 1$/lbs so we cover the harvesting costs! Stuffed peppers anyone? We also have some little red cabbages and more spinach; I have been loving the steady supply...

Hope everyone enjoyed the season! We love feedback, and thank you for sharing our Harvie learning curve. It has been a great addition to our share program because it prevented a great deal of food waste, improved harvest time, allowed me to adapt to peoples dietary restrictions, and give choice to customers. All without me going crazy! Overall a positive experience! Watch for a survey!

Look forward to seeing you at drop off one more week!

Cheers, Jess

SMILE!
