Hello and Welcome!
I know the Spring Basket is really for those who are hard core on local eating! It is the wrap up of the winter inventory, and the beginning of all the new potential, greens, hopefully wild leeks, but we never know what the weather will bring things have not quite settled into a new routine. WE will have lots of spinach & sprouts this week, and Kendal Hills Mushrooms are available to keep up diversity! There are also some super sized cabbages, they are from Farmhouse Gardens (Not Certified anymore because after 30 years of being certified he decided he wanted to retire & grow only his favorite things! Not bad I'd say, & certainly well deserved!) I have had fun doing lazy cabbage rolls with them, although I know they would make great cabbage rolls for real! And those freeze really well & become a great quick meal when pressed for time! Speaking from experience here....
Other items on the list are the last of our sweet potatoes they are a bit mini but are great for roasting or deep frying and making poutine! As Grade#2 they are only half price!
Another fun items which I have used a lot of this year is frozen half pounds of garlic! We got these from Menno Farms as our garlic was pretty sad this year and didn't store well so by the time I started putting it in the freezer for future it was pretty cut up! These are all peeled and ready to chop or use whole! Really convenient because all the work has been done!
Furthermore, in the EXTRAS I have on offer Kendal Hills Duck Eggs on SALE at 7$ a dozen, he is literally swimming in them and I said I'd list them to try and alleviate food waste!
If you are looking to try any other weird & wonderful new products from local farms you can check out our Mini Market as well !

I don't include many of them in the CSA basket as I would have to mark them up to make the numbers work & that benefits no one! So instead I run the two systems at the same time! Feel free to check it out it has our beef, pork, & chicken listed, as well as Yellowlees Family Farms Lamb, Sargent Family Dairy Milk, Foggy River Teas, Puddleduck Maple Syrup, Dried beans, and corn meal flour from Hillside Farms! Lot's of fun stuff tht we could deliver at the same time!
I am sorry to say we will be continuing to operate the Spring basket out of the Big Building! The Farmstand isn't done yet because we are lacking a couple of small construction parts so were unable to complete it on time... :(. It will happen in the near future!
Look forward to seeing you all!
Cheers your farmer, Jess
SMILE!
