Hello garden folk,
In advanced I will apologize for the repeated saved image on the email, I have not managed to make this program happy with any photos this year keeps saying they are to large & I really don't know how to resize! Kinda sucks cause I have some great ones to share!
It is getting dry, our flavors are going to get stronger peas have slowed down very rapidly so much so that this may be their last week! They do not like heat and we are prioritizing water for the seeds & crops that just went in the ground for winter storage at the moment; or they won't survive. Next week will see us start to run drip lines in our beets, carrots, beans, & brussels, and many other crops! Unless of course we get the rain that is in the forecast for Sunday & Monday! We shall see, we always get what we need not what we want! And I will feel blessed whatever mother nature delivers!
First cut hay is done, so one less item on the to do list till round number two! However, we will have a couple people away the next two weeks so please be patient, I am hoping that there will be no mistakes, but different people will be packing shares & stepping into to cover, so you never know!
I & Jessalynn have been super excited for the amazing start to her Farm Star Petting Zoo endeavor already has 4 bookings, and a Pony Trekking in the near future! She is quite excited & loving the sharing! I still have not started posting her & Abbies bios, and the animals bios on social media! But we will get there! Was thinking of adding intros to emails, we shall see?!?
Flower shares start this week, flowers are a little behind, I mean they are the last thing we ever water, so kinda to be expected! But we did not add many so it works perfectly! They will be done in glass mason jars that I am hoping everyone will bring back! Mission zero waste!
In the Farm Stand which is open every Tuesday & Saturday 11am to 6pm we now have some of Yellowlees Family Farms sausage rolls, and feta & lamb strudels! So delicious, great pairing with a side salad if I say so myself! We are still having Homestead Harvests bread & Foccocia dropped in fresh every Tuesday & Saturday morning! Not sure why but it hasn't been as popular as I had anticipated, it sells out at market every week, and is guaranteed to go bad in 4 to 5 days on the table if not refrigerated, so we know there are no toxic preservatives added! What do you all think of stocking some of her Maple & Honey Butter tarts in the freezer??? More cookies!?! Let me know! They freeze & warm beautifully, baked the same day they are frozen. Just trying to figure out what to carry in inventory, or order!
Also, we have a quarter cow available 6$/lbs! It is a lot of steaks, some roasts, stew & ground.
Palatine Fruit & Roses is starting up! We are partnering with Graze & Gather on transport, so the logistics with shares might be a little challenge but our environmental foot print will be reduced! This Saturday there will be cherries in the Farm Stand!
There is also new freeze dried fruit snacks from Forever Foods! Chocolate dipped bananas, kiwis, apples & cinnamon!
I know to much info! But hey if you want anything we carry from Sargent Dairy Family Farm, Jons Wildflower Honey, Yellowlees Meats, our beef or pork, Homestead Harvest baked goods, Tallboy Roaster coffee, Foggy River Farms Teas, Puddleduck Maple syrup at drop of just email a request or drop into the Farm Stand, Tuesday or Saturday! Soon to be everyday, just working on logistics & setup!
Cheers your farmer,
Jess
SMILE!
