Weekly CSA Update

Do you sense it? Spring is in the air!

 

This week, we're preparing the tunnels and eagerly anticipating our outdoor crops' growth!

 

It's the perfect moment to plant tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants in the tunnels and we've got lots of tasty greens starting to pop up in the fields.

This weeks share includes:

  • crisp tunnel-grown carrots
  • spicy salad mix
  • kale
  • spinach
  • pea shoots
  • cilantro
  • beets
  • rainbow chard
  • bok choi

For some variety, add extras to your order:

  • white potatoes
  • sweet potatoes
  • spicy arugula
  • spring salad mix
  • beef chorizo sausage
  • beef hot Italian sausage
  • beef kielbasa sausage
  • chipotle salt (made from our
  • red jalapeños, dried on the
  • farm and locally smoked with kosher salt, a real culinary treat!)
  • dried apples
  • locally grown and ground corn grits

We'll have a wide variety of organically grown plants available for your garden. Pay on-site with cash or card, or pre-order your plants through our web store and pick them up at the event.

 

Whether you're a new or returning friend, we're eager to see you! Come by to say hi and check out the farm!

Weekly storage tips:

Greens: Keep your greens in the provided bag. To rejuvenate your greens midweek, submerge them in cold water and give them a spin or shake, then drain in a colander. Since your greens are typically picked the day before delivery, they should stay fresh until your next share arrives.

 

Eggs: Consider making a quiche. Spinach and kale are two excellent quiche ingredients. Add a hint of nutmeg or a teaspoon of dried thyme leaves for an elegant touch to your spinach quiche. And for the omnivores, consider adding a pack of Shady Spring Farm's delicious Chorizo Sausage to your order. It pairs wonderfully with both spinach and kale quiche!
