Hello Farm-ily!
This week's photo is of Alex with shishitos. We grew less shishitos this year since we were swimming in them last year.
Now I wish we had more.
Oh well, such is life as a farmer.
We say goodbye to Alex next week as he is off to school. Alex started working here 5 years ago. He took a break to do some carpentry and building work and came back to help up this season. It's been great to have him back. He has been a meaningful part of this farm and I appreciate all his hard work, dedication and expertise. We wish him the best of luck as he heads back to school for his forestry degree this fall.
It reminds me of all the wonderful, hardworking and dedicated folks who've past through Oak Spring over the years. I have had help from lots of amazing, smart and dedicated people. Each one of them has taught me something, most of them taught me many, many things. This farm would not be where it is today without the wonderfully diverse group that has passed through Oak Spring.
Ok this week we have big sweet Italian frying peppers and blocky green bell peppers making their debut.
We have some UGLY but still tasty kohlrabi and onions, potatoes and of course TOMATOES.
Check out this week's blog on Tomatoes HERE. I talk about the difference between Hybrirds, Hylooms and Heirlooms and link to a great Catalan Tomato Bread.
