Welcome to August everyone,
It's hard to believe this coming weekend is the end of July, start of August.
We are starting to harvest the bunch carrots, a main commodity of our family farm for decades. It is something we specialized in, along with Parsley Root, Celery Root and Leeks. At one point many years ago, we grew a dozen+ different crops every season.
Our 17 plus varieties of heirloom tomatoes and assorted peppers are starting to ripen and we will have them available every week going forward into September. Fruit is in fill swing with day neutral strawberries, wild and cultivated blueberries, peaches, plums and melons all coming in nicely. If you are the canning type and need larger quantities please message me and I can arrange orders for you. We can do Tuesday, Thursday, Friday pick ups or by appointment if needed.
This week we managed to get drip tape into our celery root for more regular watering. Celery always likes lots of water. We have transplanted our onions, beets and a few other straggler plants into the field. Some of our heirloom beets are available this week too (Bull's Blood has red tops, great for salads).
We are continuing to work on the market space and have some solid plans in the works. Hopefully opening and moving our pick ups there by the end of the month. Slowly but surely we will get there.
Reminder we do have Saturday morning pick up available in Newmarket at 500 Water Street (behind Cachet Restaurant). If that works for some of you or your friends, we will be there till the end of the season.
Thanks so much everyone, for trusting us with your local produce needs.
Enjoy the long weekend, stay safe.
