With the autumnal equinox coming on September 22, we are sliding into the cooler weather and have some great stuff still ahead in the last 5 weeks of our Summer CSA season. The heat loving peppers, tomatoes and eggplants have been plowed under to get the soil ready for the nurturing cover crop of winter rye. We have many fall brassicas planted for later season harvests but this week we expect to bring in some nice beans, more Hakeuri salad turnips, lettuce, tender kale and even some sugar snap and snow peas. Our field crew is hard at work to get the sweet potatoes out of the field and into the greenhouse for curing and the Irish potatoes continue to look good coming out of the ground.
